PlayStation 3 (PS3)
The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated "PS3") is Sony Computer Entertainment's third consumer video game console, releasing on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America and March 27, 2007 in Europe. Successor to the PlayStation 2, it was revealed during E3 2006 to have an eye-watering 599USD price tag at launch for the 60GB model which -adjusted for inflation- makes it Sony's most expensive console to date. Imagined not just as a console but as a home entertainment center, early models came with a variety of ports to support as many storage formats as possible. It helped settle Blu-Rays into the general consumer market by including a BD-drive out of the box, and was run by the "CELL" processor, an all-new powerful architecture. Notable games include The Last of Us, Uncharted, Gran Turismo 5 & 6, inFamous, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid IV, Demon's Souls, Batman Arkham, Grand Theft Auto, God of War III, Fallout 3, Dead Space as well as Skyrim and Devil May Cry IV.
