PS Vita (PlayStation Vita)
The PlayStation Vita (often abbreviated "PS Vita") is Sony Computer Entertainment's second and final portable video game console, releasing on December 17, 2011 in Japan and on February 22, 2012 in North America and Europe. Successor to the PlayStation Portable, it did not find the success Sony wanted and was technically a failure, matching less than 1/4 of the PSP's sales. It remained however popular in Japan for some time before being discountinued in 2019, and still has an active homebrew community appreciating it to this day. Ditching the UMD format, the console used a cartridge format similar to SD cards. It was the first mass produced video game console to include an OLED screen and was prone to ghosting and/or burn-in, as was common with the technology of the era. A later revision of the console replaced the screen with a more traditional LCD panel. Notable games include Tearaway, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Persona 4 Golden, the Persona Dancing games, Gravity Rush, the Dangaronpa games, Rayman Origins and Legends to only quote a few.
