PlayStation 5 (PS5)
The PlayStation 5 (often abbreviated "PS5") is Sony Computer Entertainment's fifth consumer video game console, releasing on November 12, 2020 in Japan and North America, then November 19, 2020 almost everywhere else. It came into 2 bundles, one not including a disc drive. Successor to the PlayStation 4, it is a continuation of the previous generation with added support for native 4K gaming and Ray-Tracing. It also includes an SSD as base internal storage, allowing for much faster loading times. It is the only Sony console to have increased its base price since launch, and not the contrary. A more powerful mid-generation refresh called PlayStation 5 Pro released in 2024, increasing performance but coming at a very high price tag that was heavily criticized upon its reveal. The list of true exclusives on the system is very slim, but notable titles include The Last of Us Part I, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth among others.
